About Us
Who We Are
Zenara Solutions Limited is a professional HR consulting firm based in Nairobi, Kenya. We work with founders, directors, and operations leaders who are managing growing teams and who have reached the point where informal, instinct-driven people management is no longer enough.
Our team brings hands-on experience across multiple sectors of Kenya’s economy from tech startups in Westlands and Kilimani to manufacturing businesses in Thika and Athi River, healthcare practices in Kiambu, and NGOs operating across multiple counties. This cross-industry exposure means we’ve seen most HR challenges before, and we know which solutions actually stick in the Kenyan context.
We are not a large consulting house with a one-size-fits-all model. We are a focused, specialist team that works closely with a select number of clients at any one time which means every business we support receives direct, senior-level HR attention, not a junior consultant following a script.
What We Stand For
These are not aspirational statements on a wall. They are the principles that shape how we work with every client.
Who we work with
Our clients are typically businesses at an inflection point — they’ve grown past the stage where the founder handles everything, but they’re not yet large enough to justify a full-time senior HR director. That gap is exactly where Zenara operates.
Startups building HR from scratch
Businesses with 5–30 staff that have been operating on informal agreements and verbal understandings. Usually triggered by a first serious HR issue, a funding round requiring documented processes, or a key hire who asks to see the employee handbook.
SMEs that have outgrown their current systems
Companies with 30–150 staff where HR is being handled by an office manager or finance team member who doesn’t have specialist HR knowledge. Common symptoms: inconsistent discipline, unclear job roles, leave records in spreadsheets, and contracts that haven’t been updated in years.
Businesses after a specific HR crisis
Organisations that have faced a disciplinary dispute, a threat of legal action, or a staff exodus and need to fix their HR foundations before the next incident. We help them understand what went wrong, resolve the immediate issue, and build systems to prevent recurrence.
NGOs with dual compliance requirements
Donor-funded organisations that must satisfy both Kenyan employment law and international funder HR requirements simultaneously anti-harassment policies, safeguarding frameworks, grievance procedures often under tight review deadlines.
How We Work: From First Conversation to Long-Term HR Structure
Most Kenyan businesses come to us after something has gone wrong a staff dispute, a compliance gap flagged by an auditor, or a key employee leaving with no clear process to replace them. Our starting point is never a generic HR framework. It is a direct conversation about what is actually happening in your business, what the gaps are costing you, and what a workable fix looks like given your size, industry, and budget.
